Gerald Laing’s 1965 painting Commemoration sold at Christie’s Post War and Contemporary Art Evening Auction. The painting set a new record for Laing’s realising £1,202,500. Commemoration was painted by Laing in the studio of Tony Curtis while he was in Los Angeles for an exhibition.
